Summer has a way of filling our calendars. Family cookouts, vacations, baseball games, graduation parties, evenings on the patio, and weekends at the lake can quickly become the norm of the season. These moments are gifts from God, but they also present an opportunity we often overlook.
What if God isn’t waiting for summer to end before He meets us?
God is present in the laughter around the picnic table, in the conversations between innings, in the beauty of a sunset after a long day, and in the quiet moments driving home with the family. Every good gift reminds us of the one who gave it.
As Catholics, we don’t have to separate faith from the rest of life. We are called to bring Christ into every season and every setting. Before the meal, pause to offer a prayer of gratitude. On a boat pray a decade of the Rosary. Take a moment to notice the beauty of creation and thank God for it. Invite a neighbor to join you at Mass before heading to the family barbecue.
Summer doesn’t have to be a season where our faith takes a vacation. Instead, let it become a season where we discover that God has been walking beside us all along, between the BBQs, the ball games, and all the ordinary moments that become extraordinary when we invite Him in.
