Connecting Point

Connecting Point: May 24, 2026

Our Connecting Point question assumes that we believe we are part of the mission. I assure you, we are!

On the Fifth Sunday of Easter, the Gospel of John (14:12) tells us: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.” Wow! Not only are we called to continue Jesus’ ministry, but we are told that even greater things will be accomplished through those who believe in Him.

In the second reading this weekend (1 Corinthians 12), we hear: “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” This reminds us that we each have a unique role in Christ’s mission. It affirms the understanding that no one else can fulfill the mission each of us was specifically created to do. Every person has a particular purpose in Christ—that is both something to celebrate and something to explore.

We explore that calling by getting involved and volunteering. Which ministry feels right for you? Are you called to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, sing in the choir, or volunteer in one of our many outreach efforts? Perhaps you are being called to serve as a lector or on a committee. Often, we do not discover our callings until we take the first step and try.

That initial action usually means stepping beyond our comfort zones and into mission. Prayerfully consider how you might serve your parish community, then reach out to your pastor or ministry leaders to begin the conversation about where your gifts may be needed.

We look forward to hearing from you, and please know that we cannot accomplish all that we are called to do as the Church without you.
