The Gospel readings from the past couple of weeks should stir something within us. We are challenged to live out our faith with obedience and to remember that our gifts, our time and even this world are not ultimately ours. They have been entrusted to us by the Lord, and we are called to give back by using what He has given us to serve others.
Every parish has needs that can only be met when people are willing to step forward and share their time and talent. Perhaps now is a good time to prayerfully consider where God may be calling you to serve our parish communities and the greater community around us.
Liturgical Ministers
Our Family of Parishes has a need for additional liturgical ministers, including Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Ushers and others who help make our worship possible.
Sometimes we hesitate to volunteer because we don’t feel worthy, we aren’t sure we have enough to offer, or we assume someone else will fill the need. But the reality is that we can always use additional people willing to serve in these important ministries.
Worship is at the heart of what we do as Catholics, and every person who serves contributes to creating a welcoming, prayerful and meaningful experience for our entire community. We need YOUR time and talent to help strengthen these ministries.
Evangelical Charity (Christian Service) Volunteers
Our Family of Parishes also has a great need for people willing to become involved in outreach and Christian Service. Evangelical Charity is rooted in Christ’s call to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for those in need and visit those who are lonely or forgotten.
These ministries come alive because people are willing to step forward. Whether it is bringing the Eucharist to someone who is homebound, helping a neighbor who is struggling, serving at an outreach event or simply being present to someone who needs a listening ear, there are countless opportunities to put our faith into action.
These critical ministries can ALWAYS use additional help. Your willingness to serve may be the very way Christ chooses to reach someone who needs Him.
General Volunteering
Maybe you know you want to help, but you aren’t sure where you fit. That’s okay. Call your parish office and let us know. We would be happy to help you find an opportunity that matches your interests, talents and availability.
Each of our three parishes benefits from AMAZING people who generously give their time. Office volunteers, maintenance volunteers, formation volunteers and countless others allow us to accomplish far more than we could ever do with staff alone.
The strength of our parishes has always been found not simply in what our staff can accomplish, but in what we can accomplish together.
Your Time. Your Talent. His Mission.
The question is not whether we have something to give. The Lord has already given each of us unique gifts, talents, experiences and time. The question is how we will choose to use them. Somewhere within our Family of Parishes, there is a ministry that needs what you have to offer. Maybe it is serving at Mass, reaching out to someone in need, helping behind the scenes, or simply saying, “Where can I help?”
Please prayerfully consider where the Lord may be calling you to serve. When we offer our gifts back to Him, even in small ways, He can use them to make a tremendous difference in the lives of others. Your time matters. Your talent matters. And when we place them in the Lord’s hands, they become part of His mission.
