We are often in a hurry to get out of church, rush to our car, and sit in the traffic’s trying to leave the parking lot. Before you leave this weekend, try these four simple things, and see how you feel. Don’t just try them for one week, challenge yourself to do them every week.
First, introduce yourself to the priest. A quick conversation helps build a relationship and reminds him that he is walking this journey of faith with you.
Next, meet someone you’ve seen at Mass but never spoken to. Don’t worry if you forget their name, introduce yourself again next week. Friendships begin with simple, repeated conversations.
Then, thank someone who serves during Mass. Whether it’s a greeter, lector, usher, choir member, or altar server, a few words of gratitude can mean more than you realize. You might even discover a ministry you’d like to join.
Finally, slow down and take in the beauty of our church. Notice the stained glass, the statues, the artwork, or a quiet corner you’ve never explored. Let the beauty of God’s house deepen your appreciation for the place where your faith is nourished.
