It has been three years since the Archdiocese introduced the inclusive Family of Parishes model, bringing us closer together. Much like our understanding of our families, this model encompasses immediate and extended members. In this light, the immediate families of St. Francis-St. Maximilian, St. Isidore, and St. Therese are now seen as close “relatives or extended members,” forming the more prominent family of Disciples Unleashed in North Macomb. Since coming together began, we have grown closer through our shared support and celebrations. As two of the most fundamental institutions in society, family, and religion, we are now joining our parish families and sharing in our Catholic Faith, a testament to the inclusivity of our community.
The ministries of the Church are vast, offering a variety of opportunities for everyone to get involved. One such ministry is Evangelical Charity, which provides numerous areas of interest for participation. Each parish also holds its annual events and collections, fostering a sense of community within each parish. However, there are times when the entire family comes together for a common cause. Currently, we are engaged in “Fill the Backpack,” which has already made a significant difference in the lives of struggling families by providing the necessary school supplies for their children. We will meet at St. Isidore in November to support the “Kids Coalition Against Hunger” event, a beacon of hope for many families in need. In January, we will support “Walking with Moms in Need,” a nationwide, parish-based initiative to increase support for pregnant and parenting mothers. The baby shower event will help support the Compassion Pregnancy Center in Clinton Township. Also, we hope to take on another project event in Lent. On the Archdiocesan level, the parishes of the North Macomb Vicariate will join together in an annual Mercy in Action event, which will take place in October, focusing on the D.R.A.W. (Disaster Relief At Work) program.
So, Evangelical Charity Ministry is not just about raising money but also about a hands-on approach where our collective family comes together to support a common cause, ensuring that our parish members feel the impact of their communal efforts. We are deeply grateful for your past contributions and look forward to your continued support in our future endeavors.
