Happy Easter!
If you read that and thought this greeting is coming a day late, you may want to read on. Easter is more than just a day. It’s more than just a season; it’s a way of living. As Catholics, we are an Easter People. If you’ve heard that before, wonderful. If not, here’s what it means: we are called to live in the joy of the Resurrection, approaching each day with an exuberant love for our God.
Here are three ways to lean into that:
1. Serve others.
The more we serve others, the more we recognize the blessings God has given us. Fr. Ron Victor often speaks about the paradox of Catholic giving: when we give, we might expect to have less, but when we give of ourselves, we always end up with more.
2. Practice gratitude.
I once heard it said that you can’t be both angry and grateful at the same time. When anger begins to take hold, turn to gratitude. One practice I return to when I’m struggling is a simple exercise: start listing the people in your life who make it better. You may be surprised how long it takes before you put the pen down.
3. Spread love.
Our Connecting Point for Easter across the Family of Parishes is simple: Spread Love. Approach each day with the same reckless love our Lord has shown us in His life, death, and Resurrection. This is what it means to be an Easter People.
